What is an anti-snap lock?
An anti-snap lock is a Euro cylinder built with a sacrificial section, so if a burglar tries to snap it, only the front breaks off and the lock stays shut. The best ones are rated TS007 3-star, which also resist bumping, drilling and picking. We fit them sized to your door.
What is a TS007 3-star cylinder?
TS007 is a British security standard for Euro cylinders and door handles. A 3-star cylinder meets the top rating on its own, or you can pair a 1-star cylinder with 2-star security handles. Either way it gives strong protection against snapping and is what many insurers look for.
Are smart locks accepted by insurers?
It depends on your policy. Many insurers accept a smart lock only if the door still has a lock that meets their standard, such as a TS007 3-star cylinder or a BS 3621 mortice. Check your policy wording, and we will tell you whether the model you like keeps you covered.
What is the best smart lock for a flat?
The right one depends on your door type, the cylinder it uses and any building rules on fire doors. For most flats, a smart lock that keeps a TS007 3-star cylinder and still works with a key is the safest choice. We check your door and suggest suitable options.
Is my uPVC door vulnerable to cylinder snapping?
If it has a standard Euro cylinder, it can be. Look for a kitemark and star rating on the end of the cylinder. If there is none, or it sticks out past the handle, it is worth upgrading. We can check it in minutes and fit a TS007 3-star replacement.
Can you strengthen the door as well as the lock?
Yes. A strong lock can still fail if the frame, keep or hinge side is weak. Depending on the door, we fit reinforcement plates, longer keeps and hinge bolts. We will tell you honestly if a door is too worn or damaged to be worth strengthening.
Do you install alarms or CCTV?
No. We focus on locks, door hardware and smart locks. We do not supply or install alarms or CCTV, so if you want those as well, we suggest using a specialist security installer alongside our lock upgrade.
